I consider it an honor and a privilege to be invited to a birth. As a doula, I use my experience to help ensure that the birth of your baby is the amazing and special experience it can be.
I earned my degree from San Diego State University in child and family development, and my background and experience in working with families and children is extensive.
In 2001, I became an EMT for an ambulance company on the Central Coast, providing me with experience in critical care situations. During this time, I also completed a massage program, which ultimately put me on the path to becoming a doula.
After assisting in many home births, I volunteered for UCSD's Hearts and Hands Doula program. I had the opportunity to work at the birthing center at UCSD, where I gained invaluable experience working with many different mothers.
I went on to complete a degree at Grossmont College in Respiratory Therapy, becoming a licensed respiratory therapist. My rotations in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit reaffirmed my desire to work with babies in labor and delivery.
Having a background in health care, from ambulance to hospital, has brought so much to my personal experience with birth. I have come to value the lesson that babies come into the world the way they are meant to, when and where they are meant to as well. I wish you the best on the birth day of your baby!
